Where’ve all the media players gone?
I want a new media player. I want it to:
- play MP3s, OGGs, FLACs, etc (glaring at iTunes)
- download podcasts
- not be ugly as sin (glaring at Amarok2)
- be graphical (I’m a commandline junky, but not when it comes to playing music) (glaring at cmus)
- be fast, and not randomly lock up (glaring at Amarok1.4)
- run on *nix (glaring at iTunes, MediaMonkey, and others)
- support smart playlists
MediaMonkey is actually really good as a media player, but it doesn’t run on Linux. I really don’t care if it has built in ripping capabilities; I have 30 other ways to do that. It would be nice if it had scriptability; ala DCOP or others.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a media player on *nix?
